Provenance These books were part of the personal library of Dr. Peter Schmalz, created over a thirty-five year period, for the purpose of researching and writing history related mainly to the First Nations of Bruce County. As Dr. Schmalz was isolated from a major library, it was more economical and/or convenient to buy the necessary books, microfilm and other resources. Dr. Schmalz used his library to research and write a master's thesis, a doctoral thesis, numerous learned articles, several books, and reports for the Ministry of Natural Resources, First Nations communities, the provincial government, and the federal government.
