Education In 1917, Elizabeth complied with the requirements of the Department of Education for admission to Collegiate Instutite, High School or Continuation School (certificate signed at Port Elgin). Elizabeth passed her "University Junior Matriculation Examination" in 1920. Elizabeth earned her "Interim Public School Second-Class Certificate" from Normal School at Stratford in 1924. Elizabeth attended Queens University for at least 1 year sometime in the late 1920s (Source: Feb. 13, 1929 letter to Carl)
Occupation She taught at a "little school about 13 miles from home for a year" (Source: Feb. 13, 1929 letter to Carl) [probably after 1924]. At the time of her marriage in March 1932, she was employed as a teacher in the Niagara Falls area and had to keep the fact of her marriage a secret in order to keep her job for the remainder of the school year.
