12 booklets entitled "Catalogue of the Library of the Southampton Mechanics' Institute", which include 15 by-laws concerning the operation of the institute followed by the library's catalogue divided into classifications including: biography, fiction, history, miscellaneous works, poetry, general literature, religious literature, science and art, voyage and travels, and works of reference. Final pages consist of a "Supplementary Catalogue" James Howe is listed as Librarian. The contents of these booklets appear to be the same, although the colour of some of the cover pages sometimes differs, possibly due to fading and discolouration.

Beginning at page 35, the Minutes of annual meetings commence on May 5, 1892 and continue until May 26, 1943. Included in the minutes are coies of annual reports reflecting receipts, expenditures, stocks and assets, liabilities, and statistics about the volumes in the library and operating hours.
