AX2013.002.002 - John Valentine saw mill day book and grist mill day book

Brown ledger with leather spine and string binding. On the flyleaf is inscribed John Valentine Saw Mill Day Book". Also written is "Bruce, Sproat et al. Exhibit K referred to in evidence of W.C. Valentine, 30 March ... [illegible] Referee". Information in the ledger is organized chronologically by date, under which is listed each customer, often with their township of residence, and services or goods provided by the Valentine sawmill in Paisley, Ontario, along with their costs. Starting in the last third of the book is the "Grist Mill Journal October 1858" This also includes names of clients of the grist mill, along with the pounds of flour and price. At the back of the book
