A Canadian Volunteer Service Medal with proper ribbon. The ribbon is royal blue with two stripes of scarlet and green on each side. There is a silver bar (often called a clasp) of a maple leaf at its centre. The front side of the medal shows seven marching figures representing men and women of the army, air force, navy and nursing service; and around the rim, the inscription 1939 CANADA 1945 VOLUNTARY SERVICE VOLONTAIRE.The back of the medal shows the coat of arms of Canada.
Part (b) is the box lid and has lettering on the top that reads "C.V.S.M."
Part (c) is the box bottom and has hand-written blue ink that reads "Ernie Baker".
The medal belonged to Albert Ernest (Ernie) Baker who was born in West Wawanosh Township, Ontario on August 18th, 1913.
He served with the Royal Canadian Air Force in the Second World War.
