Description A hand held label applicator. It has a silver metal frame with a black wooden handle at the top. The frame supports the wheeled apparatus at the front. There are six brass coloured circles in a row sitting in a brass box. There is a small gear wheel connected to a larger geared wheel that are attached to the side metal support. There is a rectangular shaped guide that can move up and down. The guide is bolted to the side of the frame and has a rounded end. The base of the frame is flat and has a pocket type compartment that is hinged. There is a black and silver maker's label on the side of the frame that reads "Wing Mailer - Number 31158 - Patented Manufactured by - Chauncey Wing's Sons Inc. - Greenfield Mass. USA".
Provenance This label applicator was used during the 1980s by staff at the Teeswater News to put mailing labels onto newspapers.
