A Defence Medal with proper ribbon. The ribbon has green edges and black central stripe through the green with a wide orange centre stripe. -The front of the medal shows the bareheaded coinage effigy of King George VI, facing left, and the legend: GEORGEIVS VI D: BR: OMN: REX F: D: IND: IMP. The back shows the Royal Crown that rests on the stump of an oak tree, flanked by a lion and a lioness. At the top left is the date 1939, and at the top right, the date 1945.The bottom reads "THE DEFENCE/MEDAL."
Part (b) is a box lid that has lettering on top that reads "DEFENCE MEDAL"
Part (c) is the box bottom and has hand-written in blue ink that reads "Ernie Baker".
The medal belonged to Albert Ernest (Ernie) Baker who was born in West Wawanosh Township, Ontario on August 18th, 1913.
He served with the Royal Canadian Air Force in the Second World War.
