Object Name Medal, Military

Description A Military Cross consisting of a large silver cross with a crown on each arm end. In the centre of the cross is "GRI". Engraved in the back of the medal is "Captain G.A. Eaton 2. R.C.A 1944".
Ribbon bar is attached to cross by a metal loop. Ribbon is wide grosgrain with three stripes; white, purple, white. Top of ribbon is attached to metal bar with fastening mechanism.

Part B; Medal case is oval shaped with one flat end. Case is made of navy coloured leatherette. On the case top is a gold crown. Top is lined with white satin. In the centre of the satin is a coat of arms with "Royal Mint" beneath. Bottom of case is lined with a beige velvet. Carved out of the velvet is the space that the medal sits in.

This cross was presented to a soldier for valor and/or bravery during service.
Provenance The Military Cross was awarded to Captain George A. Eaton for valor and bravery during service. Eaton was killed in action in 1945 during the Second World War.
George A. Eaton served with the Royal Canadian Artillery, 2nd Field Regiment.
