A 1939-1945 War Medal with proper ribbon. The ribbon is red central stripe with narrow white stripe on each side, broad blue and broad red to outer edge. The front side of the medal shows the crowned coinage effigy of King George VI, facing left, and the legend GEORGIVS VI D : BR : OMN : REX ET INDIAE IMP :. The back shows a lion standing wanton on the body of a double-headed dragon. The dragons heads are those of an eagle and a dragon to signify the principal occidental and oriental enemies. At the top, just right of centre are the dates 1939/1945 in two lines.
Part (b) is a cardboard box with lid and lettering on top that reads "WAR MEDAL 39-45".
(c) box bottom - off-white - paperboard - hand-written in blue ink reads "Belonged to Ernie Baker".
The medal belonged to Albert Ernest (Ernie) Baker who was born in West Wawanosh Township, Ontario on August 18th, 1913.
He served with the Royal Canadian Air Force in the Second World War.
