Description |
These 16 microfilm reels (labelled A2010.099.1021b-q) are part of series 2 (Saugeen First Nation and Chippewas of Nawash Unceded First Nation related documents), file 3 (Microform and slides). They were ordered from Xebec Imaging Services, Ottawa, by Dr. Peter S. Schmalz in December 1995 for use in preparing a report for the Ministry of the Attorney General of Ontario (see order letter A2010.099.1021a) The films were prepared by Archives Canada and consist of "Indian Affairs Superintendency Records, Central (Toronto) Superintendency, correspondence", 1845-1876. Some boxes contain notes including "excellent on factionalism and foreign Indians in Saugeen Territory", "band dismiss Kegedonce," "M.B. Madwayosh at Sarnia where he has 4 shares of annuities, and 1 share at Saugeen," summary of considerable amount of money given to Saugeens and Nawash Bands reported for the past 17 years to 1869;" "Starvation prevented at Nawash in 1858 by Indian Department food distribution; David Root adopted into band by chief," "road surrender 1869, fishing;" "almost all on Caughnawaga in Saugeen.")
