A2017.093.002a - Map #2201, Georgian Bay, was surveyed by Staff Comdr. J.G. Boulton, R.N., and Mr. W.J. Stewart, 1884-1901 with additions from Canadian Hydrographic Surveys to 1964. This is the newest edition released July 8 1966. The map is stamped along the lower border with the message: "Corrected through notices to mariners. Edition 11. Mar. 16 67. Canada Hydrographic Service. Ottawa, Ont." This map was meant for nautical use. Bearings, sailing distances in nautical miles, and soundings in fathoms are given. A2017.093.002b - Attached is an "Explanation of Symbols and Abbreviations used on charts issued by the Canada Hydrographic Service. Headings include: The Coast; Coast Features; Topography (Natural Features); Control Points; Units, etc.; Adjectives; Ports & Harbours; Topography (Artificial Features); Buildings; Miscellaneous Stations; Lights; Buoys and Beacons; Radio & Radar Stations; Fog Signals; Dangers; Various Limits; Soundings; Depth Contours and Tints; Quality of the Bottom; Tides and Currents; Compass; Depth Conversion Table.
