This folder is part of the Peter Schmalz fonds, Series 6, File 1 (Walkerton and area history resources - Research notes and newspaper clippings). These 1930s clippings from the Walkerton Herald-Times newspaper were gathered and used Peter S. Schmalz in the research for his book "The Impact of the Great Depression on Walkerton." Clippings include images and topics related to people, industry and factories, recreation and sports (including hockey, donkey baseball, wrestling bouts, talent shows and ski carnival, carnivals), cars, new bridge, Agnes Macphail as speaker, advertisements, "Former Bruce County Boys and Girls remember Home County"and clearing CPR railway line between Hanover and Durham. Factories included are: Canada Furniture Manufacturers, Bogdon & Gross Furniture Factory, American Rattan Factory, Larsen and Shaw Factory, R. Truax, Son & Co. |
