The yellow and blue cover of this booklet reads "25th Anniversary / 1958-1983" Above the title is a blue circle with wheat and a small diagram which reads "The Ontario Wheat Producers' marketing board / Est'd 1958". The cover itself is a picture of hands holding grain. Inside is a history of the Ontario Wheat Producers' marketing board. There are lists of the directors for every year. These directors are from across the province including Ripley, Tara, and Kincardine. There is a note on the reverse which reads "Guest Bob Holmes / Stratford / Feb. 4/83 / Treas $289.02, Balance / 1983 Bruce had 90 some new producers in Bruce". |

James W. Powers (Jim) collected this item. He actively farmed until 1948. He was Fieldman for the Bruce County Federation of Agriculture. He participated in the organization of groups including the Hog Producers and Cream Producers Marketing Boards and the Co-operative Medical Services Plan. He was also involved in initiating Co-op Insurance for farmers. He took an active interest in community affairs and conservation practices. Jim represented Greenock Township on the Saugeen Valley Conservation Authority for 20 years. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus and chairman of the International Plowing Match. |
