Description |
This nautical chart features the title "Steamship navigation on the Muskoka Lakes" This map is of the Muskoka Lakes and shows steamship navigations as well as steamship mishap locations. The area covered on this map ranges from Port Cockburn in the northwest and Gravenhurst in the southeast. All the lakes and islands that fall within this range are labelled. A legend is provided and contains highways, other roads, railway, railway stations, post offices, shipping mishaps with reference with reference number, main steamer route, water depths in feet, navigation lights, and wharfs. Included on this map are two ship illustrations, with each providing textual information. The two ships are "Nipissing II 1880's" and "Segwun, 1930s." Also included is a reference for steamship mishaps. This reference list corresponds with a location on the map and provides the ship name and the cause, date and location of the mishap. On the bottom left corner it states "cultural information circa 1915, sources for historical content: R. Tatley, Steamboating in Muskoka, 1972, and J. Rogers, Roger's Charts, L.
