Description |
This item is an original charcoal portrait of W. R. Tomilson, who was Mayor of Port Elgin in 1951. The portrait shows the head and shoulders of an older man wearing a suit and glasses. The artist's signature is on the left side of the portrait, below the man's left shoulder. The portrait was originally framed. A small paper plaque that was on the back of the frame reads "AN ORIGINAL CHARCOAL PORTRAIT By Egbert C. Reed Norval - Ontario" and "Presented to Mayor W.R. Tomilson Port Elgin -- Ontario on behalf of the Citizens of the Community by Cities Service Oil Company Limited to commemorate his 1951 Term of Office." |
