This item is part of the Peter Schmalz fonds, Series 6, File 1 (Walkerton and area history resources - Research notes and newspaper clippings). This folder consists of notes concerning statistics and information gathered from Bruce County Census 1851, 1871, and 1881, including: a) Photocopied remarks of census taker of 1851 census of Brant Township re: "This Township like the rest in Bruce is settling very rapidly ... I have no doubt but it will number as many inhabitants as Kincardine before next winter.
