This item is part of the Peter Schmalz fonds, Series 5, File 7 (Personal documents and publications - Miscellaneous). This board game, entitled "The game of Walkerton, county town of Bruce, Ontario, Canada" was created by "Ideas Board Game" Myerstown, PA" for Homecoming '91. From the Rules: "The object of the game is to bankrupt the competition by buying, selling, expanding and investing in local business properties that actually exist in your home town, plus investing in the "millionaire Stock Exchange" The equipment consists of a game board, a set of dice, 6 tokens, a set of profit cards and loss cards, a set of title cards and a stack of play money (American). The game board is set up in a fashion similar to the Monopoly game, with rectangles around the outer edge of the rectangular board featuring different Walkerton businesses. The center of the board features sketches of: The O'Connor / Bogdon House, The Town Hall / Victoria Jubilee Hall, The Joseph Walker House, Walkerton Herald-Times building, and the Rowland House. Also listed in the centre are the names of Walkerton Police Chiefs (1907-1991), Walkerton Postmasters (1853-1991), Town Mayors (1871-1991), Walkerton Fire Chiefs, Citizens of the Year (1984-1989) and Royal Canadian Legion Branch 102 Honour Rolls for World War I and World War II including Cargill & Greenock and Formosa. Businesses featured as properties in the game include: Superior Propane, Bud's Sound Boutique, Carman Cameras, Canadian Tire (D.W.
