Admin/Biographical History |
The Order of the Eastern Star is a Freemasonry-related fraternal organization. It was established in 1850 by Boston, Massachusetts lawyer and educator Rob Morris, a former Freemason official. Male members must be Master Mason and female members must have specific relationships with Masons. Originally, a woman would have to be the daughter, widow, wife, sister, or mother of a master Mason, but the Order later allowed other relatives to become members as well. The Tri-Star Chapter was instituted on September 4, 1971 when 56 petitioners received the obligation and an institution banquet was attended by 196 people. The group attracted members from the Chesley, Paisley and Tara areas of Bruce County, Ontario. The group organized various fundraising events and supported many charities. Among the fundraising events was a Fashion Show which they hosted for 28 years raising an estimated $40,000.00 to support local hospitals, libraries, Cancer Society, Heart and Stroke Foundation, Chesley's Meals on Wheels, Paisley Community Centre and Bruce Children are Special Foundation, and other local charities. In 2012, the group consolidated with Good Will Chapter No. 235, Harriston. |
