Description

The spine of the brown and black book reads "Cemetery Records".

The first page reads "For insulin send to Central Laboratories Ont. Dept. of Health Parliament Bldg Toronto 2. May 1946" and "1961 Lots 50 Pla[-] 50 2 layers 25 & 25 1 [layer] 15 opening grave 20.00 small - 10.00 or vaults - 27.50 Base - 20.00".

Inside the book lists names alphabetically next to a number. Further into the book is a list of Ranges ordered by Lots with names, dates, and costs associated. The earliest date is 1886 and the latest 1963. The last range is Range 36.

After the ranges the ledger has several blank pages before being used as a minute book for the Albemarle Cemetery Board. The first entry is dated May 3, 1940 and the last May 11, 1949.

Between 1940 and 1957 the back of the book was used to document expenditures and other financial information. These entries are not in order.

Inside the front of the book is an envelope that reads "Deed for cemetery lots Alice White & Mac" with the deed dated 1968.

This item was collected by the Albemarle Township Historical Society in the course of its research and writing related to the creation the book "Albemarle: a History of the Township" published in 1991.
