Description

This account book has a brown cover that reads "Always bring this book. / M [blank space to fill in name] in account with / family butcher / dealer in all kinds of / fresh and salt meats, hams, bacon, / pickled tongue, &c. / vegetables, poultry and game in season / orders promptly attended to." Below the first line of text is a black drawing of a cow and two sheep in a field. The back cover reads "No.112".

On the inside of the cover it reads "G. Mc Laughlin" [Gilbert McLaughlin]. Only five pages contain writing. The final page is written in red pencil in a child's handwriting.

This item belonged to Gilbert Mclaughlin who resided on Concession 10, Lot 14, Elderslie Township and later in Scone, Bruce County, Ontario.
