[The scrapbook contents and associated indices and transcripts contain outdated language concerning Indigenous people, and others. Users should be aware that racial slurs, epithets, and derogatory terms appear in this item and collection. For more information about the Archives' approach to language used in transcripts and descriptions of historical records, see BCM&CC's Descriptive Language Statement] This scrapbook contains newspaper clippings, letters, photographs, and notes, generally created primarily between 1946 and 1965, concerning the history and events of the former Township of St. Edmunds, which later formed part of the Municipality of Northern Bruce Peninsula. It also contains handwritten notes made by Bruce Krug about local history discussions following visits with local residents, including: Sid Lee, August 1953 Robert Allen Hopkins, July 1957 Edward James Hopkins, May 1960 Lloyd Smith, August 1957 Mrs. Arthur Watson and Willow (Wyonch) Watson, November 1957 Wally Scott, May 1958 Margaret (McLeod) Golden, October 1959 Sam Craigie, July 1963 Topics of articles, notes, and visit discussions include: people; obituaries; marine history, ships and shipwrecks (including "Alice Hackett, Asia, Bruce Mines, Eastern Shell, Glenstriven, Griffon, Heather Belle, Helen M.B., Lady Dufferin, Queen, Manitoba, Picton, Regina, Sea Horse, Sweepstakes, and White Oak), Deadman's Point, original settlers, rural life, Charlie Earl's bootleg whiskey, Tobermory harbours, hotels, Scott family logging camp locations, Tobermory Lumber Co., Plan 488 Dorcas Bay, trapping wolves and hunting wildcat, churches, Kendall murder charge, lighthouses, and historic buildings.
