Description |
-001: A letter written to Private Stuart Macpherson of Kincardine Township who enlisted to serve in the 160th Battalion in April 1916. The letter commends Stuart for his sacrifice and courage, expresses appreciation for his service, and prays for his safe return. The letter and a watch were presented to Stuart during a social evening prior to his departure to join the war effort. The letter is dated April 28, 1916 in Tiverton, ON. The letter is signed by Mary Downey, Albert Cooke and Roy MacSween. -002: Newspaper clipping entitled 'Address and Presentation' which describes a gathering at the home of Mrs. John Macpherson where her son, Stuart Macpherson, was presented with a watch by Mary Downey and read the address described above by Ray [Roy] MacSween. After the reading, there was a social program consisting of recitations, violin and phonograph selections, speeches, lunch and dancing. |
