Description |
Postcard featuring an image derived from a pencil drawing by artist James Paddon. The image is black and white and depicts two houses set behind trees. The house on the left features darker shading, while the house on the right is lighter. Both houses feature enclosed front verandas, gable roofs with a single centre dormer, and shutters on the lower level house windows. The trees in the foreground have long narrow trunks with branches spanning from the trunk in the top half of the mage. The artist marked the original drawing in the bottom left corner border with "©J.D. PADDON2021." The lower centre border bears the title "Paddon Huronic Lodges - CIRCA 1944-" The reverse side includes interpretive text in italic typeset: "This reproduction from an original pencil drawing is a depiction of the Paddon Huronic Lodges at the beach of POrt Elgin Ontario circa 1944. Beginning in the early 1920s and before the advent of motels, trailer parks and cottages for rent, the Huronic Lodge offered accomodation for tourists seeking the summer amenities of hte towns famous beach. Originally bu9lt as the residences of the Zinken, Cress Tannery circa 1873. Birth Home of the Artist". |
