Description |
This is the autobiography of Yvonne "Chip" (Carpenter) Inkster, the various homes in her life representing the different chapters of her life. She was the daughter of a WWI war bride, and became a war bride herself. She was born in England but spent her early years with her maternal grandparents in Germany while her mother had to stay in England to work. After a medical crisis, Yvonne was taken back home to England to stay with her parents. She spent three years in a local Convent boarding school, but at age seven, was able to convince her parents how miserable she was and happily spent the rest of her school years in day school. Upon completion of her schooling, Yvonne considered career options, and in the end, joined the WAAF (Women's Auxiliary Air Force), working as a Radar Operator. It was during this time that she met and married a Canadian soldier, Robert Inkster, and soon followed him back to Ottawa, Canada. Their family was raised in Canada, chapters also included in this book. |
