Description |
This series consists of photocopied documents, including Department of Indian Affairs reports and correspondence, Band Council minutes, census / lists of residents data, memoranda, petitions, reports, sessional papers (excerpts from Journals of Legislative Assemblies), treaties, and other documents. Many of the documents were photocopied from microfilm held by the National Archives of Canada, including material from NAC's reference number RG 10 (parts of the Department of Indian Affairs and Northern Development fonds). Also included in this series are articles, pamphlets, brochures, hand-made cards, microform, interview notes / transcripts, audiotapes, newspapers, newspaper clippings, and research cards. The material concerns the history and experience of primarily Saugeen First Nation and Chippewas of Nawash Unceded First Nation, as well as other First Nation communities in Ontario. A significant portion of the documents reflect the communications and relationship between the First Nations and the Imperial and Canadian Governments.
