This book is a first attempt to relate the history of the people of Walpole Island, home of the Ojibwa and Potawatomi, from prehistoric to modern times. Nin.Da.Waab.Jig, which means "those who seek to find" in the native language of Walpole Island, is the community-based research arm of the Walpole Island Band Council. |

This book was part of the personal library of Dr. Peter Schmalz. The library was created for the purpose of researching and writing history related mainly to the First Nations of Bruce County. Dr. Schmalz used his library to research and write a master's thesis, a doctoral thesis, numerous learned articles, several books, and reports for the Ministry of Natural Resources, First Nations communities, the provincial government, and the federal government. The library reflects his major interest in aboriginal contact with Europeans. |
