The green and brown cover of this book reads "Report of the select committee on conservation Ontario 1950" Pictured on the cover are nine squares, each with a drawing of nature. There is a picture of a field, a dam, a forest, men harvesting in a field, a pond, a lake with canoes, a field with cows, an oceanside cliff, and a small pond with a barn. The first page reads "Report to the Ontario Legislature from the select committee on conservation / Toronto / printed and published by Baptist Johnston, Printer to the King's Most Excellent Majesty / 1950" The following page is a short address to "The Honourable The Legislative Assembly of the Province of Ontario" dated March 15, 1950. |

James W. Powers (Jim) collected this item. He actively farmed until 1948. He was Fieldman for the Bruce County Federation of Agriculture. He participated in the organization of groups including the Hog Producers and Cream Producers Marketing Boards and the Co-operative Medical Services Plan. He was also involved in initiating Co-op Insurance for farmers. He took an active interest in community affairs and conservation practices. Jim represented Greenock Township on the Saugeen Valley Conservation Authority for 20 years. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus and chairman of the International Plowing Match. |
