Folder contains a copy of the book "Ripley 1875 - 1992 Huron's Hub People Activities Homes" with numerous news articles, photographs, notes, inserted into the book. The inserts are described below; - Insert between Pg.3 & Pg.4 - "Members of His Family" by Donald John MacLeod. Describes plight of those forced from their homes, Isle of Lewis, Scotland in 1851. A large number, 109 families in all, came to Goderich in 1852 & settled in Lewis Settlement in Canada, Huron Township. Article is undated. - Inserts between Pg.4 & Pg. 5. - Teeswater News, July & Aug. 1992. "My romance with the railroad" by Mr. Alvin Mundell. The Orangeville-Teeswater line of the C.P.R. Both passenger & freight service was good. People could leave on the morning train, arrive in Toronto before noon, do their business and come home to Teeswater on the late train. Two Pages with photo's. "My romance with the train" Part 11 by Alvin Mundell. Explains the section crews, winter snows, transportation for workers on the lines. Two pages with photo's. Winter caused many problems, Switches had to be kept clear, railway crossings shoveled, rails & crossing planks sometimes filled with water then froze and had to be chipped. Two Pages with photo's.
