This paper is part of Series 2, File 1 (Saugeen First Nation and Chippewas of Nawash Unceded First Nation related documents - Saugeen-Nawash rights and claims) From the introduction, p. 3: "For years, the Cape Croker people suspected that there were lands and water rights to which they felt entitled. Because of various factors, until recently they could not support these claims; and it was the realization that a land claims commission was set up in the United States which prompted the councils of the two bands to approach the Native Studies Department of this university to see if they had any basis for land claims, to set up an investigation and research project for such in the hopes that long overdue compensation would be given them for lands from which they were displaced."
