[The scrapbook contents and associated indices and transcripts contain outdated language concerning Indigenous people, Black people, and others. Users should be aware that racial slurs, epithets, and derogatory terms may appear in this item and collection. For more information about the Archives' approach to language used in transcripts and descriptions of historical records, see BCM&CC's Descriptive Language Statement] This scrapbook contains newspaper clippings, photographs, and notes, generally created between 1953 and 1965, concerning the history and events of the former Township of Kincardine, which later formed part of the Municipality of Kincardine. It also contains handwritten notes about local history discussions made by Bruce Krug following visits with local residents, including: Mrs. William Hunter, December 1953 Secord Hunter, April 1955 Donald Matheson, September 1954 Oran Westell, September 1954 Tom McGaw, February 1956 Neil "Skipper" McKinnon, May 1957 Topics of articles, notes, and visit discussions include: people, obituaries, drowning of Elliot Hunter, crime / murder, passenger pigeons, storm of 1913, ships including Sephie, Merrimac, Lyman Davis, Wanderer, Anna Maria, Hunter, Singapore, Ontario, Bert Barnes, Kolfage, Coronet, Sarah, Quimby, Swan, and Onward; Circle Bar paper box factory, birds die in 1963 storm over Georgian Bay, local development, harness racing, water spout (tornado threatens), West Shore Electric Railway, armoury, Fenian Raids, doctors, Kincardine United Church, Sparling's Garage, Fox Jewellry closed, "Do you Remember?" columns consisting of copies of 1930s newspaper articles, history of Stoney Island, memories of early elections, Yale Rubber plant, and transcriptions of early industry articles by Jane Yemen re: brickmaking, tailoring, ashery.
