Description |
This folder consists of 10 letters written by Louisa Parker in England to her sister, Hannah "Jemima" Leeder, and her nephew, Nathaniel Leeder Sr., both in Canada. Amongst the letters is one to Jemima dated February 21st, 1854 and mentioning Leeder's safe arrival to Canada. Letters to Nathaniel thank him for taking time out of his busy schedule to write her, as well as provide updates from England concerning family, friends, crops and other agricultural matters. Later letters to Jemima also note the well-being and deaths of family members in England, and ask about Nathaniel's children, Robert Sr., and the recent cultivation of their farm. In letters to both Nathaniel and Jemima, Louisa mentions an advertisement from a newspaper looking for descendants of Sir Francis Drake. Some letters have writing written on top of writing in a different direction, but in the same ink. |
