Admin/Biographical History |
At the time this material was created and compiled by the donor, the department of the Government of Canada responsible for Canada's northern lands and territories was called the "Department of Indian Affairs" (sometimes shortened to "Indian Affairs"). This entity was changed and renamed several times between 1966 and 2019 (in 2011, 2015, and 2017). On July 15, 2019, legislation came into effect dissolving "Indigenous and Northern Affairs Canada" and establishing 2 new departments, "Crown-Indigenous Relations and Northern Affairs [Canada]" (CIRNAC) and Indigenous Services Canada (ISC).
