Description |
This file contains mostly reproductions (photocopies) of original documents pertaining to the research conducted by Ron Beaupre gathered and created during work related to Lost Ports initiatives (including the "Lost Ports Historic Survey" by Ronald F. Beaupre, Allison Shaw, and Sue Palmer pursuant to Archaeological License 94-109; see BCM&CC Item ID #A2021.024.235). The following list describes some of the material found in this research file: 1. Correspondence; correspondents include: - the Ministry of Citizenship, Culture and Recreation, - the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Recreation, - Patrick Folkes, - Peter Engelbert (Marine Heritage Unit, Ministry of Culture and Recreation), - Ray Mifflin, - W.M. Orford, - Gordon Turner, - David Kotin (History Department, Toronto Metropolitan Library), - Bill McNeil; 2. Licence to Conduct Archaeological Exploration Survey or Field Work; 3. Handwritten [or draft] notes, including: - Application(s) for an archaeological licence, - Introduction (for interim report), - References of topics of interest (including page numbers and subject) from the book, "History of the County of Bruce" by Norman Robertson, - General research notes; 4. Photocopy of "The Question of a Harbour of Refuge on the Canada Coast of Lake Huron, discussed at some length by the Inverhuron Harbour Committee, County of Bruce, 1869" (photocopied by Toronto Public Library); 5. Photocopies of newspaper articles, maps, and information from atlases and directories; 6. Photographs featuring: - John Brown's quarry at Gunn Point, - [Inverhuron beach], - Exposed lower deck of Inverhuron pier (1993), - Inverhuron pier (underwater, with diver); 7. Sketches of pier at Inverhuron (3) [noted as not to scale]: - Crib #1, - Crib #2, - East side of crib #2; 8. Copy of "the fo'c's'le" (no. 30, February 1994); and 9. Receipts from reference libraries and archives. Several ship names are mentioned throughout these compiled documents*.
