Description |
A bound, printed copy of the debates of the House of Commons of the Dominion of Canada during the 4th session, 6th Parliament. It comprises the period between January 16, 1890 to March 26, 1890. "P Brydges" is inscribed in the inside cover. A book mark is located between pages 1035 and 1038. Upon it is handwritten "Social economy." The book contains a list of the members of the House of Commons and transcriptions of all debates during this period. Includes lists of yeas and nays throughout, and there is an index at the back. James Rowand, West Bruce MP, spoke at length about seeds and grain imports on Feb. 24, 1890 - a bill he seconded. |

The original owner of these books is believed to be James Rowand who was elected to the House of Commons in 1887 and served as the MP of West Bruce under the Liberal banner for eight years. The books were discovered in the home formerly owned by James Rowand, Lot 18, RWSR Saugeen Township. |
