This item is part of Peter Schmalz fonds, series 7, file 2 (Regional history resources - articles and manuscripts). This is a transcript of the manuscript of John McNabb "History of the County of Bruce." This paper was created in or around 1896 response to County Councils offering of a prize of $50 for the best paper on the history of the county. [For more information about the contest, see "Author's Introduction" in Norman Robertson's "History of the County of Bruce." This paper is outlines the history of several minor municipalities within the County of Bruce: Paisley, Port Elgin, Inverhuron, Wiarton, Hepworth, Allenford, Southampton, Kincardine Township, Chesley, Chantry Island, and Walkerton. It also includes a small section entitled "Indians of the County of Bruce" as well as a section on the "political history of Bruce County" and information about judicial matters. |
