One small notebook with cover published by the Hepworth Furniture Co. Limited. The notebook features a red, black, and white front page, and contains lined memo pages, photographic images of the factory exterior, and illustrations of furniture sold by the Hepworth Furniture Company including wardobes 15, 18, 20; bedroom series 12, 16, 22, 32, 36, 39, 90, 94; dinette suites 200, 215; bookcases 132, 138, 140, 144; desk 115, 120; table 165, 174; cabinet 170, 172, 182, 368; chair 176, 178; breakfast suites 362, 381; buffet 304. The front of the notebook reads, "The line that moves... / Hepworth / BREAKFAST / KITCHEN / DINETTE / BEDROOM / WARDROBES / DESKS / BOOK CASES / Furniture CO. LIMITED / SOUTHAMPTON, ONTARIO" The cover is navy blue with gold metal corner protectors and embossed text. The cover reads, "The Hepworth Furniture Co. / Limited / Southampton, Ontario / Makers of / "THE LINE THAT MOVES"" |

The Hepworth Manufacturing Company was organized in 1898 by a group of local businessmen to link together a number of small saw mills on the site of the Charles Withun sawmill. Charles Withun had been employed at Knechtel Furniture of Hanover. Bedroom suites, sideboards, tables and game boards were produced. At some point, the name changed to Hepworth Furniture Company. The Company employed a large number of people in Hepworth, until they moved to Southampton in 1937. The company specialized in a line of inexpensive bedroom and dinette furniture. It closed in 1974. |
