This scrapbook contains photographs, postcards, correspondence, and newspaper clippings about the activities, and members of the Southampton Saginacs. Scrapbook also includes information about the history of Southampton and its residents. Subject matter of the photographs and postcards includes the Saugeen River, Denny's Dam, the Breakers Hotel, Southampton Continuation School class 1924-1925, Southampton Fishermen baseball team, and Southampton Saginac members and reunions. A sampling of the scrapbook has been digitized. |

The Southampton Saginacs club was founded on March 30, 1930 to foster sporting activities in the area. The original members of the Saginacs included Dallas Allen, Thomas Bell, Bus Delong, Harry Delong, Gordon Kidd, Russell Kidd, Jack Morton, Murray Morton, Clarke Robertson, Clarence Schilling, Wally Scott, Les Kent, Munroe McLeod, Russell Mead, Louis Morton, Sherwood Wells. The club was active until 1936, with Gordon Kidd as the club's only president. The members began organizing annual reunions in Southampton starting in August 1976. Reunions were held until 1990. |
