File 1 of series 2 of sous-fonds 4 (Hepworth finance & accounting records) of the Town of South Bruce Peninsula fonds consists of Tax Records created and/or used by the Treasury Department of the former Village of Hepworth, including the following (as also further described below): a) Assessment Rolls and Collector's Rolls, generally containing information about the ownership and assessed value of Hepworth properties, and/or taxes payable; b) Assessors Valuation Book; c) Tax arrears ledgers and record of Hepworth land sales for arrears; ASSESSMENT AND COLLECTOR'S ROLL LIST: The years listed below are generally years in which the assessment was used for tax purposes, with the assessment usually having been completed in the compiled year. 1. Assessment Rolls: 1931-1937, 1938-1944, 1945-1948, 1986-1997, 1998. 2. Combined Assessment & Collector's Roll: 1949-1957 3. Collector's Rolls: 1988, 1990, 1991, 1992, 1993, 1994, 1995, 1996, 1997, 1998. ASSESSORS VALUATION BOOK Book contains "Unit Record of Assessors Valuation" pages with entries made from 1948-1952 containing information about buildings, including year built, and land used to determine assessed value. TAX ARREARS AND SALE LEDGERS LIST: 1. Record of Tax Sales, 1928-1941 (including owner name, property, arrears, date of sale, purchaser name); 2. Tax Arrears Ledger 1947-1958 3. Tax Arrears Cash Book and Interest Journal, 1961-1966. |
