This folder is part of Series 5, File 3 (Personal documents and publications - Articles). This folder contains: a) Correspondence to Peter Schmalz from Northward Journal, A Quarterly of Northern Arts, January 6, 1990, chiefly concerning an article concerning the Memorial Gardens. b) Two draft copies of essay entitled "The History of the Memorial Gardens Site at Chippewa HIll." The site was an ancent dreaming place and fasting site where their people prayed to manitou for divine inspiration. The Battle of Skull Mound was fought in the 1600s at this location. The site became the location of the Methodist mission church first built in 1834. The site also became the location of an amphitheatre. |
