This folder contains newspaper clippings and a writeup about the history of zinc mining on the Bruce Peninsula in Ontario. Newspaper clippings include: - "Base Metal Mine Industry Is Possibility For Bruce Peninsula," The Owen Sound Sun-Times, Saturday, January 28, 1967, page 12 (entire page featuring local advertisements and other articles and page 11 on the verso); - Photocopies of "Zinc Discovery Is Reported 10 Miles North of Wiarton By Big U.S. Zinc Producer" (unidentified newspaper), Friday, January 27, 1967; and - "Mining flavor introduced to resort," The Wiarton Echo, March 1967 (Courtesy of the Northern Miner). The handwritten writeups are photocopies and include: - "The Albermarle Zinc Deposits" with a photograph of a zinc core attached. Handwritten on the reverse of this photograph is: "Zinc core taken from mine on Lot 30 Con. 3 E.B.R. No. 6 Hwy in the 1950's / Submit with Victor Last's write-up / Geo. Given File / Eva Goodale." - Notes on October 27, 1910 and June 2, 1910 Wiarton Echo articles concerning zinc samples and outside interests of the Albermarle zinc mine. |
