Description |
A red hardcover book about the life of politician William E. Gladstone. Contains some engravings of Gladstone family members and politicians. This is one of the books originally housed in the library of the Alexander McNeill household, known as "The Corran", located north of Wiarton. Hand-written notes are in the back regarding points and page references. Stamp in back: National Library/Biblioteque Nationale Surplus Feb 1 1973. Initialed in front "AM 1896" with pencil. Two pieces of paper are located between pages 236 and 237. One has page references and notes, and appears to be written on a scrap of House of Commons letterhead. The other has a 1/2 cent Canada postage stamp and the handwritten words "Alexander Martin Esq. M.P. Merchant, Valleyfield P.E.I." on a folded piece of paper with the words "A Bangor Citizen Satisfied" and "September 28, 1867" on the reverse. |
