Description |
A course manual written by Laura E. Jamieson (nee Marshall) - Lloyd Johnston's aunt. The manual is about the need for women's rights at home and in the workplace after the end of the Second World War. She compares social justice issues of foreign counties to those in Canada. She writes about women and nutrition, women at work, household workers, the impact of war on women and democratic socialism. There is a notice of a memorial service in the front of the book with a short bio of Jamieson's life. |

Laura was raised in Park Head. After training as a teacher, she went to British Columbia to teach. Afterwards she went back to school and graduated from University of Toronto in Philosophy, then worked in the Toronto YWCA. After living in Stratford, she moved to Vancouver and married Jamieson. She took her husband's place of Juvenile Court Judge in 1926 when he died. In 1938 she resigned to work with the C.C.F. party. In 1929 she was sent to the League of Nations in Geneva.
