This account book is part of series 1 (Military records) of the Thomas Vance family fonds. The first 21 pages consist of black typeset information for soldiers, under the headings of: General Observations, Rewards for Good Conduct (including pensions), Re-Engagement, Reserve Force, Regimental Savings Bank, and Articles of War. Pages 22 to 26 consist of forms onto which information has been handwritten, including "Soldier's Name and Description", "Services Abroad", "Promotions or Reductions in Rank", "Distinguised himself, and in posession of medals for." The final pages consist of "General Rules as to Wills" and blank will forms. |

The military records of Thomas Vance were passed down through the Vance family until they arrived in the hands of Leona McLean-St. Clair (nee: Vance). Mrs. McLean-St. Clair gave these records to her niece, Cecille Lockrey, to donate to the Bruce County Museum and Archives. |
