Published by: Ottawa: National Museum of Man. This is Archaeological Survey of Canada Paper No. 16. The author reviews the Nodwell site in Port Elgin, A.D. 1340, and four older sites: Knechtel I, Inverhuron, Donaldson and Thede. He analyzes animal use. There is a map of sites on page 121. The Donaldson site, two miles from the Saugeen River mouth, is Middle Woodland and appears to date to 500 B.C. The Thede site is six miles upstream from the mouth, occupied about 300 years after Donaldson. |
