This record is for a collection of three plans entitled "Court House Jail Bruce County." The creator of the plan is unknown. The plans are labelled AT2021.004.003 A - C. The plans include: A) Plan titled "Front E[levation?]." 69 cm x 75.5 cm. Shows an exterior view of the building, which is coloured in with blue and grey. The paper is very tattered with large pieces missing, including most of the title and the scale. B) Plan titled "Side Elevation." Scale is 1 in. = 4 ft. 63.5 cm x 92 cm. Shows an exterior view of the building, which is coloured in with blue and grey. C) Plan titled "Second Story." Scale is 1 in. = 4 ft. 88.5 cm x 68 cm. Layout of second story includes Day Room, Cells, Hall, Judge's Room, Petty Jury Room, Waiting Rooms, Grand Jury Room, Barrister's Robing Room. Plan is coloured in with grey, brown, and light red or pink. |

Date Note: The estimated date range is based on a similar item in the collection (AT2021.004.001) which is dated 1858. These may be part of a proposal submitted by an unknown architect to Bruce County for consideration in its choice of architect to build the Bruce County Jail. A call for proposals was first made in 1858, and then again in 1863. Ultimately, David Murray, Architect, of Guelph, was appointed to formally prepare plans. |
