Description |
This nautical chart is titled "Lake Huron, Georgian Bay. McCoy Islands to Collins Inlet" and the sheet number identified on the map is 85. The area covered on this map includes Georgian Bay, McCoy Islands and Collins Inlet. There are three inset maps included: Alexander Inlet, French River, and Pointe Au Baril Harbour. A drawing of Pointe Au Baril Range Lights is also included with the inset maps. As a nautical chart, this item generally portrays water depth, hazards, aids to navigation, features along the shoreline and the seafloor, as well as man-made and natural features of the area. Under the title, the chart states that it was "surveyed by Staff Commander J.G. Boulton, R.N., assisted by Messrs. W.J. Stewart and D.C. Campbell, 1886. The portion engraved lightly is taken from a survey by Lieut. H.W. Bayfield, R.N., 1822. Soundings in fathoms." This version was published in 1916 by the Canadian Department of the Naval Service Two embossed seals are present and state "John Harriston & Sons Company Limited."
