Series 6 of the Arthur Amos Research Collection consists primarily of folders of notes and photocopied material related to ships, shipwrecks, navigational aids, and marine archaeology research being conducted by Arthur Amos. |
Admin/Biographical History |
Arthur Amos (1933 - 2020) was a founding member of the Ontario Marine Heritage Committee (1976) and was active in the marine history and archaeology of the Great Lakes since 1968. In his middle years, he earned an undergraduate degree in history from York University, Toronto, and was an active diver into his eighties. He initiated many underwater archaeological surveys across Ontario and made a major contribution to the field. |
