Admin/Biographical History |
The first Loyal Orange Lodge in Southampton started on October 8, 1856 when Alex Ross was issued warrant certificate #735. Members met in a log house on Grosvenor Street North. The house, along with the original warrant were destroyed by fire. On January 9, 1892 Walter Myles received a new warrant certificate #1284, and meetings were held at the Mechanics Institute (Southampton Art School). In 1941, the Lodge moved to 215 High Street and remained in that location until the building was sold in 2004. Meetings were then hosted at the home of Right Worshipful Grand Master Robert Edgson. In 1970, Southampton Loyal Orange Lodge amalgamated with Ebenezer Loyal Orange Lodge #208. In 1992, the Southampton Lodge hosted the Grand Black Lodge's annual convention. |
