Description |
File 5 of Series 2 (Saugeen First Nation and Chippewas of Nawash Unceded First Nation related documents) of the Peter Schmalz fonds consists of newspaper clippings, articles, pamphlets and audio-visual material, reports, correspondence, and a topographical map of Cape Croker concerning historical and more current issues regarding First Nations, fisheries and fishing in Ontario, and particularly in the areas of Christian Island, Hay, White Cloud and Griffiths Islands, the Saugeen Ojibway (Saugeen First Nation and Chippewas of Nawash Unceded First Nation), Bruce County and Grey County. The documents reflect interactions between First Nation, government and the general public in the Bruce and Grey County areas. Includes documents related to court proceedings between Richard Kahgee, Ralph Akiwenzie and Saugeen Ojibway Nation and Her Majesty the Queen in right of Canada commenced in or around 1992. |
