Harvey Hellyer Aiken was born on September 21, 1892 in Allenford, Ontario. Harvey had been listed as a Lieutenant in the 31st. Grey Regiment of 1906. Harvery served in the First World War in England and France and he was a member of the 160th. Bruce Battalion. He was wounded in the foot during his service and was discharged in 1918. After the War, Harvey returned to his family business of Aiken Bros Hardware and Harness in Allenford. He continued working at the store for over fifty years. Harvey was a member of the Tara Legion Branch 383 for thirty years. He was also a member of the Allenford United Church and the Allenford Curling Club. Harvey passed away at his summer home in Sauble Beach in July of 1974. |
